New feature: Different vehicle owner

What's new?

You can now register a different owner . This is particularly useful for temporary vehicle use, such as:

  • 🔄 Fleet rental – vehicle is temporarily loaned to another customer
  • 🚙 Vehicle rental – replacement vehicles during repairs
  • 👥 Pool vehicles – Changing users in the fleet
  • 🏢 Company vehicles – Temporary assignment to employees or departments

Where can I find that function?

When editing a customer vehicle, you will find the new "Different Owner" in the left navigation, between "Accessories" and the other tabs.


How does it work?

Assign owner:

  1. Open a customer vehicle for processing
  2. Click on the "Different Owner"
  3. Use the "Find owner"
  4. Select the desired customer
  5. The contact details will be displayed automatically
  6. Save the vehicle, and you're done!

Ownership history

The system automatically all changes of ownership:

information Description
📅 From-Date When was the owner assigned?
📅 Until date When did the assignment end?
⏱️ Period How many days did the customer have the vehicle?
status Displays "Current" for the current owner

Application examples

Example 1: Replacement vehicle during repairs

Customer A brings their vehicle in for repair → Customer A receives a replacement vehicle (from the fleet) → You assign Customer A as the "different owner" of the replacement vehicle → After repair: Owner is removed again → History shows: Customer A had the vehicle from December 1st to December 5th.

Example 2: Company pool vehicle

The pool vehicle belongs to the company (main customer) → The employee/department uses it temporarily → You assign the employee as a "deviating owner" → Upon change: A new owner is assigned → History shows all users with their respective time periods

FAQ

Q: Can I assign multiple owners at the same time? A: No, only one different owner can be assigned at a time.

Q: What happens to the history if I delete the vehicle? A: The history remains in the database as long as the vehicle is not physically deleted.

Q: Can I retroactively change old ownership records? A: No, the history is write-protected and serves for documentation purposes.

Q: Will the original customer be overwritten? A: No, the original vehicle owner remains unchanged. The different owner is additional information.

Q: Will the different owner appear on invoices? A: No, invoices will continue to be issued to the original customer.
