In the prime ministers' conference held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, a further tightening of the corona measures was decided. In future, this will also apply to retail: 2G only. According to this, only recovered and vaccinated customers may be allowed access to the sales and exhibition rooms of the motor vehicle company.
In other words, according to these resolutions, the sales areas in the car dealership are also subject to 2G guidelines. The new corona protection regulations are independent of the respective incidence (only the food trade and drugstores are excluded).
ZDK fears further losses for car dealerships as a result of 2G regulations
There were protests about the agreed regulation from the board of the Central Association of the German Motor Trade (ZDK). This calls for a more differentiated solution from politicians.
The association stated in a statement that in German car dealership branches there were always " only a few customers present at the same time and therefore there were neither crowds nor queues ". A 3G regulation is therefore – in the opinion of the association – sufficient.
"To emphasize it again: We are fully behind the goal of successfully combating the corona pandemic by increasing the vaccination rate," said ZDK President Jürgen Karpinski.
Due to the ongoing Corona crisis, the economic existence of many car workshops is not good. “ First of all, floor trading was almost completely paralyzed by the lockdown in the first half of the year, and when we wanted to get going again, the semiconductor crisis wrecked our new car business in the second half of the year. Therefore, the car year 2021 will probably be even worse than the crisis year 2020 ," says Karpinski.
A further aggravation of the situation is neither tolerable nor reasonable for the automotive trade and the automotive industry as a whole.
The association therefore demanded that customers with a negative rapid test result continue to be allowed access to the car dealership and that the 3G regulations be maintained overall.
