New federal government for expansion of the electric vehicle industry

One of the goals set by the new federal government is the modernization of German climate policy. New Chancellor Scholz sees the expansion of the electric vehicle market as the central pillar of this policy. The number of electronically powered passenger cars is set to increase drastically.

The three governing parties were already in agreement during the election campaign. The expansion of electronic car traffic should be a central topic of the new traffic light government. Chancellor Olaf Scholz assured again in his first government statement on Wednesday before the Bundestag: "In the coming years we will ensure that mobility becomes easier, more comfortable and more climate-friendly while remaining affordable for everyone."

In addition to the "expansion and modernization pact" for better local rail transport, Scholz also clearly acknowledged the Germans' most popular means of transport: the car

"Many people like to drive their cars, and it should stay that way." However, the vehicles' drives must finally become climate-friendly.

Scholz therefore stated that the goal was to allow around 15 million additional electric cars on German roads by 2030.

It is true that car sales are currently somewhat weaker. In view of the electric car market, which is booming at the same time, the target is quite realistic.
